Tax Compliance Manager for Partners

Overview: This position is part of the tax division within a prominent accounting firm, focusing on personal tax compliance for approximately 200 partners. The role includes overseeing a small team and ensuring timely completion of tax returns during the tax cycle, alongside conducting initial reviews on the LLP side.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management of the partner tax compliance process, which encompasses:
- Leading the team to guarantee the timely submission of all tax returns for clients during the tax cycle.
- Conducting first reviews of tax returns.
- Preparing guidance on tax implications related to partner issues, such as share unit awards and pension contributions.
- Communicating process changes to partners.
- Managing tax components of the partner remuneration process, including the preparation of year-end statements and remittance of partners' tax to HMRC.
- Contributing to:
- Implementing Basis Period Reform and necessary procedural adjustments.
- Preparing for the implementation of Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Coordinating with National Tax and other business sectors as needed.
- Overseeing compliance with additional reporting obligations, such as the Trust Registration Service, claims, and elections.
- Drafting Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning and other ad hoc tax advice requested by partners.
- Assisting with Group employment tax issues, including:
- Providing an overview of the P11D and PAYE settlement processes, including initial reviews and addressing technical inquiries from return preparers regarding the tax implications for short-term business visitors and internationally mobile employees.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/Equivalent) and/or Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) / Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
- Experience in the profession and/or financial services, with a proven track record of managing workloads.
- Experience in leading and managing a team.
- Strong foundation in tax technical knowledge, with a willingness to research and draft advice in new areas.
- Excellent team player with a strong client service orientation.
- Ability to organize tasks and coordinate a small team to meet multiple, often competing deadlines.
