Job Title: Head of Finance and Operations

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage Chambers' accounts using QuickBooks
    • Prepare and send monthly invoices for rent and fees
    • Oversee direct debit collection and cash flow management
    • Develop and implement a budget for approval
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Marketing and Events:
    • Organize the annual seminar and evening party for over 600 solicitors
    • Coordinate internal receptions and parties with the PR Committee
  • Administration and Facilities:
    • Monitor holiday and sickness records
    • Implement and review best price policy for supplies
    • Ensure facilities are safe and compliant
  • Library and Research:
    • Order yearly publications, including FCP, @aGlance, @eglance, Capitalise, and FRP
  • Pupillage and Training:
    • Assist with mini pupil and pupillage applications and correspondence
  • Facilities and Maintenance:
    • Act as Health and Safety Officer, ensuring compliance
    • Oversee the maintenance of the building, including external and internal areas
    • Maintain Chambers' telephone and entry fob system
    • Consult with the landlord regarding fire regulations and negotiate with utility suppliers
  • IT and Compliance:
    • Consult with contracted IT Support
    • Ensure compliance with GDPR, Cyber Security, and Bar Council regulations
  • General Administration:
    • Maintain self-accreditation with the regulator, the BSB (Bar Standards Board)
    • Manage Bar Mutual Indemnity Insurance and Practising Certificates
    • Oversee Data Protection registration
    • Prepare agendas and attend committee meetings
    • Manage Chambers Insurance

This is a long-term role that requires a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. The successful candidate will have previous professional experience and relevant qualifications.

The role offers a competitive salary, five weeks paid holiday, a target-related annual bonus of up to 10% of annual salary, entry to Chambers pension scheme, and one week's extra wages at Christmas.
