Head of Physical Education and Outdoor Education

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Physical Education department at Longdon Hall School, part of Acorn Education. As the Head of Physical Education and Outdoor Education, you will be responsible for fostering a positive culture of physical health, wellness, and sportsmanship among our students.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Development: Lead the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive Physical Education curriculum that aligns with national or regional standards.
- Department Leadership: Oversee and mentor Physical Education staff, ensuring effective teaching practices, professional development, and collaboration across the department.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Physical Education department, ensuring continuous improvement in teaching and student outcomes.
- Extracurricular Programs: Organize and manage extracurricular sports programs, inter-school competitions, and after-school sports activities.
- Inclusivity and Safety: Promote inclusivity in sports and physical education, ensuring all students are encouraged to participate, regardless of ability. Maintain and manage the school's sports facilities and equipment, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Community Engagement: Develop strong relationships with parents, staff, and external sports organizations to promote a culture of physical health and well-being.
- Compliance and Budgeting: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all physical education activities. Prepare and manage the department's budget, allocating resources effectively to meet program goals.
- Event Management: Lead the organization of school sports events, including sports days, tournaments, and other physical education-related events.
- Student Assessment: Provide ongoing assessment of students' performance and progress, utilizing both formative and summative evaluation methods.
- Role Modeling: Act as a role model, demonstrating a healthy lifestyle and the importance of physical activity.
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field (Master's preferred). UK QTS.
- Experience: SEN experience.
