Tax Accountant Job Description

BenchMark Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly skilled Tax Accountant to join our team in the UK. As a Tax Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing a portfolio of clients, providing comprehensive tax planning and compliance services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and File Tax Returns: Ensure accuracy and compliance with UK tax regulations for a range of clients.
  • Provide Expert Tax Advice: Help clients minimize their tax liabilities by identifying tax-saving opportunities and advising on business restructuring, inheritance tax, and capital gains tax.
  • Manage Client Relationships: Build strong relationships with clients through regular communication and provide tailored tax solutions.
  • Act as Main Point of Contact: Handle queries, manage tax investigations, and resolve disputes with HMRC as necessary.
  • Advise on VAT Matters: Assist with complex VAT issues such as partial exemptions, international VAT, and reverse charge mechanisms.
  • Monitor Tax Legislation: Keep clients informed of new tax developments or obligations and ensure their tax strategies are adjusted accordingly.
  • Prepare Tax Forecasts: Help clients with their financial planning and cash flow management.
  • Review Tax Computations: Ensure accuracy and adherence to deadlines for tax computations and work completed by junior team members.
  • Assist with Tax Audits: Prepare necessary documentation and liaise with tax authorities during tax audits and investigations.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CTA) or working towards a relevant tax qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in tax accounting within an accountancy practice.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation and compliance.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in tax software and general accounting packages.
