The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Laundry Technician to join our team. As a Laundry Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing laundry equipment, ensuring that our facilities operate efficiently and effectively.
Main Responsibilities- Liaise and work with other trades and disciplines, including external agencies, to ensure seamless operations.
- Participate in the Labour Management Scheme, completing timesheets and job dockets, and providing relevant information.
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications to instruct and advise others.
- Work efficiently with minimal supervision, managing own workload and prioritizing tasks.
- Supervise contractors and sign service sheets as required.
- Install and maintain energy conservation devices as instructed.
- Diagnose and repair faults on complex electrical or mechanical services, engineering plant, and equipment.
- Monitor temperatures using handheld data collection devices, diagnose faults, recalibrate, and carry out repairs to steam gauges, boiler controls, and washers.
- Manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new specialist electrical or mechanical controls as required.
- Diagnose and repair faults on electronic or mechanical equipment using fine tools, soldering irons, and fine screwdrivers.
- Work on electrical distribution systems, including emergency standby, UPS, and generation.
- Carry out installation, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance on control systems for laundry machinery, steam raising plant, heating systems, motors, pumps, heat recovery, ventilation systems, sterilizers, washer disinfectors, and fire alarms.
- Carry out statutory inspections and testing on engineering plant and equipment, and complete necessary documentation.
- Undertake non-complex tasks, including fault finding outside own specialism.
- Install heavy engineering plant using lifting equipment, in compliance with Trust policies.
- Use own initiative, knowledge, and experience to quantify and install specialist electrical services, engineering plant, and equipment, in accordance with current guidance and legislation.
- Use specialist software to program and reprogram control systems for laundry and similar equipment.
- Participate in the departments Equipment Release and Permit to Work Systems.
- Drive Trust vehicles as required.
- Extensive post-qualification experience in electrical or mechanical services.
- Recognized time-served apprenticeship or City & Guilds and HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechanical equivalent.
- City & Guilds Inspection and Testing Certificate.
- Confined spaces certificate.
- Multi-skilling qualification.
- Written and verbal communication skills to liaise with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
- Computer literate and keyboard skills.
- Capable of working in a demand-driven service.
