Devon County Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Worker to become an integral part of our Integrated Adult Social Care team, focusing on the West area of Devon.

This role is based in a flexible work environment, allowing for a combination of office and remote work as per our hybrid working policy. As a Social Worker within our Disability Focus specialism team, you will engage with young adults transitioning to adult services and older adults facing various physical and/or learning disabilities, as well as ongoing health challenges. Your responsibilities will include assessing and reviewing needs in accordance with the Care Act, supporting decision-making compliant with the Mental Capacity Act, and ensuring the protection of vulnerable adults.

As a Qualified Social Worker in our Disability Focus Team, you will be innovative, person-centered, and committed to empowering adults through a strengths-based approach. Your exceptional relationship management skills will be essential in collaborating with service users, their families, care providers, and other health professionals to promote independent and safe living within the community.

This is a full-time position requiring in-office work at least two days per week.

We have initiated the first phase of a new Social Worker Career Pathway within our Adults Services, offering positions at the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) levels. Our roles align with national standards, providing a structured framework for local authorities to standardize professional capabilities and create a clear career trajectory.

This opportunity presents a clear and achievable pathway for your professional growth, enabling you to reflect on and enhance your practice in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).

If you are shortlisted for an interview, your experience, skills, and knowledge will be evaluated against the PCF domains. If deemed suitable, this assessment will determine your placement at either the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) level.

With ongoing learning and support from your supervisor, those appointed as Social Workers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their professional development and apply for progression to the Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) level through a portfolio of evidence aligned with the PCF framework.
