About the Role

We are seeking a talented Design Manager to lead our Engineering team within a key water framework in the South West. This role offers hybrid working and will report directly to the Head of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, ensuring full compliance with relevant local specifications, codes, regulations, and H&S legislation.
  • Identify and manage H&S hazards, effectively communicating all residual risks to stakeholders.
  • Lead the Design team to ensure a focused approach that meets customer requirements and project objectives.
  • Manage design expenditure, drive efficiency, and ensure the delivery of design outputs within allocated resource hours and key dates.
  • Organize all elements of design, document it in the Design Management Plan, and prepare monthly status update reports as required.
  • Attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project, and technical meetings.
  • Ensure that technical solutions are produced to outperform on costs while maintaining quality standards and timely delivery.
  • Provide technical support during construction, assembly, and commissioning stages as needed.
  • Ensure that all technical work adheres to the correct standards and specifications, following appropriate systems of work and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to sustainability targets by reducing embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of solutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with people from various partner organizations, backgrounds, and disciplines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams, partners, the client, and the general public.
  • Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, offering open and honest feedback.
  • Perform other duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and consistent with the level of responsibility for this role.
  • Presentation a professional and positive image of the organization in all internal and external contacts.
  • Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained.
