About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Medway Community Healthcare. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to children and young people aged 0-19 in our early years clinic and mainstream schools in the Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Diagnosis
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) to identify their strengths and weaknesses.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address the child's needs.
  • Therapy and Intervention
    • Deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy interventions to children with SLCN.
    • Work closely with parents, carers, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support the child's communication development.
  • Parent Education and Support
    • Provide parent education and support through workshops and individual sessions to help them understand their child's communication needs and develop strategies to support their development.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including teachers, psychologists, and occupational therapists, to develop and implement individualized plans for children with SLCN.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure that the child's needs are met and that progress is monitored.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
    • License to Practice Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)
    • The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience
    • Experience of working with children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
    • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Well-established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.
    • Understanding of the roles of other professionals.
    • Knowledge of standards of record keeping.
