Job Description

A leading construction consultancy is seeking a talented Graduate Building Surveyor to join their expanding team in Central Birmingham. As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing a range of building surveying services to clients across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Administration: Manage construction contracts, ensuring timely completion and adherence to specifications.
  • Dilapidations: Conduct thorough assessments of properties to determine repair and maintenance requirements.
  • Party Wall: Facilitate negotiations and agreements between property owners and developers.
  • Landlord and Tenant: Provide expert advice on leasehold and freehold properties.
  • Defect Analysis and Rectification: Identify and rectify defects in buildings, ensuring compliance with building regulations.
  • Client Brief Development: Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive briefs for construction projects.
  • Project Delivery: Oversee construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • JCT Contract Administration: Manage contracts using the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) framework.
  • Technical Compliance: Ensure compliance with planning and building regulations.
  • Specification Writing: Develop detailed specifications for construction projects.
  • Schedules of Work: Create comprehensive schedules of work for construction projects.
Requirements:
  • Relevant Construction Degree in Building Surveying and working towards final assessment with RICS or recently completed APC.
  • Working knowledge of a range of building surveying services.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong team spirit and a positive attitude to service delivery.
  • Experience or understanding in delivering core building surveying services.
Additional Skills:
  • Awareness of the Principal Designer role.
  • Design experience using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of NEC Contracts (Option C).
  • Project Cost Control.
