Position Overview

We are continuously seeking exceptional individuals to become part of our team and contribute to our ambitious objectives and expansion. At CHEC, we prioritize our personnel and are dedicated to the future of eye health, envisioning an innovative role for you in this mission.

Our focus at CHEC is on delivering the highest standard of patient-centered care, engaging in the complete journey for patients from pre-admission through surgical procedures and post-operative support.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, the Surgical Care Specialist will concentrate on patient-centered care, engaging in the entire process for all patients from pre-admission, surgical intervention, and post-operative management. If you are a registered nurse or an operating department practitioner, we offer training and professional development opportunities to enhance your career.

You will be a skilled Surgical Care Specialist responsible for conducting preoperative evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and assisting in the surgical environment under established best practice guidelines.

Ideally, you will possess substantial experience as a Scrub Practitioner in ophthalmic surgical settings; however, our clinical education team is available to provide training and mentorship to facilitate your transition into our ophthalmic and cataract surgical facilities.

About CHEC

CHEC is a pioneering specialist eye care provider, committed to delivering exceptional standards of care to both insured and self-paying patients, offering a variety of eye treatments and surgical procedures. Our highly qualified consultants utilize cutting-edge technology to ensure an outstanding level of service to our patients.

Job Duties

We are looking for a candidate who can:

  • Support surgeons in delivering ophthalmic care
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges on surgical days
  • Engage in departmental evaluations
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude and eagerness to learn, with a commitment to providing quality care
  • Exhibit effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excel in a collaborative team setting

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Prior experience in a surgical environment is essential. Experience as an ophthalmic scrub practitioner is preferred but not mandatory, as comprehensive training is available for suitably qualified RGNs or ODPs with a minimum of two years of post-qualification clinical experience in a secondary care context or similar.
  • Evidence of relevant professional development, ideally supported by certification as an RN with valid NMC Registration or ODP with valid HCPC Registration.
