About the Role

Carter Jonas is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Rural Surveyor to join our dynamic Infrastructure Team based in Birmingham. Our infrastructure team is the fastest growing of its kind in the country, with 180 people in seven offices around the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct land and property valuations for major clients including Network Rail, HS2, National Highways, National Grid, and the Crown Estate.
  • Negotiate compensation and disturbance claims arising from construction works.
  • Manage rural assets, including direct contact with clients, tenants, and contractors for renewals, rent reviews, and maintenance works.
  • Let and tender rural properties.
  • Conduct site visits and property inspections.
  • Engage with landowners, stakeholders, and their professional representatives.
  • Obtain consents for access across third-party land for works.
  • Develop and undertake new business/relationship opportunities and drive forward initiatives in the local area.
  • Implement efficient internal systems and processes, optimizing IT and other resources.
  • Manage surveyors working across the team.
  • Mentor and coach junior members of the team through their professional development.

Requirements

  • RICS qualified with PQE experience in a commercial, rural, or infrastructure surveying role.
  • Business development-orientated attitude and focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Compulsory purchase experience is desirable, although training is available through our CPO Academy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to demonstrate good working knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop your career, actively seeking out continuous self-development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients at all levels.
