Electrical Engineer Opportunity at WSP Global Inc.

We're currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Birmingham.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering electrical design inputs for infrastructure-related projects. This will involve preparing and reviewing electrical package deliverables, including technical specifications, calculations, reports, and datasheets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems and their integration with instrumentation and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver electrical design inputs for infrastructure-related projects.
  2. Prepare and review electrical package deliverables, including technical specifications, calculations, reports, and datasheets.
  3. Understand requirements in relation to installations relating to DSEAR and electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres.
  4. Participate in inspection, testing, setting to work, and commissioning stages relevant to electrical equipment and installations.
  5. Attend factory acceptance tests for low-voltage assemblies.
  6. Coach and mentor electrical discipline junior staff.

Requirements:

  1. Degree qualified in electrical or control engineering, or the minimum of an electrical/control HND with substantial experience.
  2. Professional registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
  3. Significant experience in delivering electrical engineering low-voltage design aspects of infrastructure projects as an Electrical Design Engineer.
  4. Be technically sound and able to work mainly unsupervised in the preparation and review of electrical and ICA design package deliverables.
  5. Have an understanding of instrumentation and control systems and their integration with the electrical system.
  6. Understand requirements in relation to installations relating to DSEAR, electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, and CDM Regulations.
  7. Be able to communicate clearly in the English language; both verbally and in the production of high-quality written documentation using MS Office applications.
  8. Be able to travel and visit operational works and construction sites as required, to act in a safe manner, and to asset survey, inspect, and witness test electrical equipment.
  9. Demonstrate a practical appreciation of electrical safe systems of work.
  10. Be able to use cable design, protection, and coordination software.
