The Impact of Your Role as a Building Safety Inspector
In this position, you will conduct thorough Building Safety inspections to identify and address defects, ensuring timely actions are taken to eliminate hazards and verify that all installed equipment is functional. Your role is crucial in safeguarding individuals and ensuring the operational efficiency of the building. You will also be responsible for defending against any liability claims related to communal areas and providing a diligent defense against allegations of statutory or regulatory breaches.

Role Responsibilities
- Operate within a designated geographical area and provide operational support to colleagues across the group portfolio.
- Execute a schedule of building safety inspections to identify defects, prioritize actions, and ensure timely remediation of hazards.
- Conduct functional and operational safety checks to confirm that installed equipment complies with health and safety standards.
- Document the outcomes of inspections and assessments, evaluating hazards and determining appropriate actions and timelines for risk mitigation.
- Report emergency repairs through the customer service center and collaborate with Compliance Management and Quality Assurance teams.
- Escalate any building safety concerns to the Team Leader or Operational Manager within established timelines using agreed reporting tools.
- Assist in conducting dynamic risk assessments of buildings to establish risk levels and inspection frequencies.
- Review the quality of completed fire safety remedial works and maintain digital records with relevant reports and photographs.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping using appropriate systems to maintain the integrity of building safety inspection data.
- Foster constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective inspection activities.
- Communicate with customers and gather information on other asset services as needed to support group objectives.
- Identify and communicate access requirements for compliance works and assist in arranging necessary access.
- Adhere to internal business processes and relevant regulatory frameworks to ensure effective inspections.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
- Adapt to changes in work priorities and undertake additional duties as required to support service operations.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in monitoring risk and health and safety compliance within a housing context.
- Familiarity with asbestos, legionella, building regulations, fire safety regulations, and conducting risk assessments.
- Effective stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
- Proficient in IT systems, including MS Office.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately review, collate, and record data for meaningful analysis.
- Strong attention to detail with the capacity to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
- A collaborative team player who can adapt to meet business needs.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role as a Building Safety or Compliance Inspector.
- Knowledge of Compliance Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to implement innovative solutions.
