About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Tax Adviser to join our team at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). As a key member of our policy team, you will play a critical role in shaping the CBI's tax policy and influencing government decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the CBI's policymaking on Employment Taxes and International Taxes, ensuring that the voice of our members is heard on the development and implementation of taxes within the employment space.
  • Work closely with the CBI's wider future of work team to support them on any policy development with tax aspects.
  • Build and own relationships with key stakeholders in international forums, including liaising with the CBI's international office in Brussels.
  • Act as secretariat for the CBI's Employment Taxes and International Taxes Working Group of member companies, including presenting on your areas of responsibility at these meetings.
  • Represent the CBI at key international meetings on tax, including Business Europe and Business at OECD (BIAC).
Requirements
  • A good knowledge of the tax policy landscape and the tax debate in the UK would be beneficial.
  • A keen interest in tax and economic policy with an awareness of UK politics and government.
  • CTA, ATT, ADIT, ACA or ACCA qualified (desirable).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to adapt to take into account various tax and non-tax considerations.
  • Persuasive influencing skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding collaboration and an ability to work with people from other disciplines, including economics, commercial, political and policy.
  • Ability to work at pace/under pressure.
  • Commercial awareness.
