Job Description

Job Role: iSeries / RPG Developer

Location: Flexible, with a requirement to be based in the UK and travel to Birmingham 1-2 days a week.

Industry: IT Software Solutions and E-Commerce

Key Technical Experience:

  • Proficiency in SQL, RPG, AS400, RPG400, i-Series, and iSeries
  • Experience with Application Development, IBM Development, Legacy, Java, Full-stack, IBMi, Consultancy, and Software House
  • Knowledge of SCRUM and Agile methodologies

Remuneration: Up to £60,000 + bonus + comprehensive benefits package

Chapman Tate Associates is seeking an experienced iSeries / RPG Developer to join our team. As a leading IT Software House, we work with and supply to a number of household names, delivering a range of Software Solutions around Cloud Services, ERP, IT Security, AI, and IoT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using IBM RPG programming language
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications, identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal performance
  • Write efficient and clean code while adhering to coding standards and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to continuously enhance your skills and contribute fresh ideas to the team
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
  • Document code, processes, and specifications for future reference

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an RPG Developer, with a strong portfolio of completed projects
  • Proficiency in RPG IV programming language and related tools
  • Familiarity with IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform and associated technologies
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) principles
  • Problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
