Job Title: Assistant Technical Authority

At Simpson Booth Limited, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Technical Authority to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the business to deliver our work programme by focusing on Remote Systems, ROV, and Survey activities.

The successful candidate will have expertise in these disciplines and will be responsible for maintaining our organisation as a leading global authority in the subject area. This will involve leveraging our members' expertise to further develop guidance and competence in these areas.

This is a new role that will supplement our current skills in the technical department to address a busy and growing work programme and support new initiatives. The Assistant Technical Authority will work closely with the Lead Technical Advisor to provide technical guidance and expertise for ROV and survey operations during a wide variety of offshore operations and inspections.

The role will involve assisting in the planning, execution, and running of technical committee meetings each quarter, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of technical guidance documents. The post holder will be required to assist with other technical tasks from time to time, and precise responsibilities will be determined based on the successful candidate's skill set.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend and constructively participate in activities involved in ROV & survey related operations and any associated workgroups, including preparing agendas and minutes, driving deliverables, and delivering on actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of new technical guidance documents and information notes using available expertise.
  • Review and revise existing technical guidance documents and standards to ensure they remain current with industry good practice.
  • Consult and engage with third-party organisations, including regulators, trade associations, and technical associations.
  • Assist in the organisation, liaison, promotion, presentation, and success of regional meetings as appropriate.
  • Prepare technical briefings for senior management.
  • Provide technical advice to designated management committees, workgroups, and membership.
  • Assist the Lead TA at conferences, seminars, webinars, in publications, and on social media to help present, promote, and elevate our organisation's role and position.
  • Champion our organisation's health, safety, security, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Travel nationally and internationally, as required, to act as a representative at appropriate meetings and events.
Person Specification:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience in ROV & Survey operations or a similar technical role.
  • Advantageous to have ROV and/or Offshore Survey qualifications in a supervisory position.
  • Microsoft 365 range of Office applications and computer-based experience is required.
  • Experience with survey equipment and techniques.
  • Demonstrable experience working in an office environment.
