Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Assistant to join our Financial Accounting and Reporting team at Compass Group UK. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our monthly reporting to the centralised group function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory accounts for smaller trading and dormant entities, liaising with key individuals in group finance to obtain necessary information.
  • Communicate with stakeholders within the UK business to ensure all aspects of the accounts are complete.
  • Continuously review and improve processes to ensure efficiency.
  • Analyse and interpret large data sets from multiple sources in differing formats.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in managing and training junior colleagues on balance sheet reporting and provide constructive feedback.
  • Prepare central balance sheet reconciliations and present findings in review meetings.
  • Arrange and attend central balance sheet review meetings and maintain a tracker of findings.
  • Provide assistance to other areas of the team during busy periods.
  • Ensure payroll returns and liabilities are filed/paid on time each month.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with current changes to international accounting standards and provide technical support to sector colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Currently studying towards ACA, CIMA, ACCA (or equivalent).
  • Highly numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and organise work effectively.
  • Experience in SAP/Cognos (desirable).
