Cranleigh Scientific is seeking a dedicated Analytical Quality Assurance Chemist to enhance our quality control team.
Role Overview: This position involves conducting comprehensive physical, chemical, and analytical evaluations of various materials including DI water, raw materials, and both bulk and finished products. The successful candidate will ensure that all products meet the required quality standards before release.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform physical, chemical, and analytical assessments in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and laboratory protocols.
- Authorize the release of raw materials, bulk products, and finished goods from quarantine after thorough testing.
- Engage in the validation of cleaning processes and other methodologies as necessary.
- Maintain control and retention of all tested samples in line with relevant SOPs.
- Document and report any non-conformances for materials that fail to meet specifications.
- Assist in managing and maintaining laboratory standards for raw materials and products in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the upkeep of databases related to all conducted tests.
- Support the resolution of technical and quality-related challenges.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate data recording and minor adjustments as needed.
- Conduct routine calibration of laboratory instruments as per established schedules.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and glassware used in testing procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the QC Laboratory Supervisor.
- Adhere to safe working practices and ensure that workspaces are free from obstructions.
- Uphold high standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) within the laboratory environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the QC Laboratory Supervisor or Quality Manager.
Qualifications:
- A degree in chemistry or a related field is essential.
- Proficient understanding of analytical and wet chemistry techniques acquired through hands-on experience is required.
- Practical experience with HPLC, FTIR, and UV/Vis spectrophotometry is necessary.
- Experience in a GLP and GMP setting is preferred.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a small team.
- Strong organizational skills and proactive work ethic.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
- Competence in using computerized information systems for data management.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential.
