About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Planning Assistant to join our team at West Oxfordshire District Council. As a Planning Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the planning service, handling a caseload of planning applications, and engaging with applicants and other interested parties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle a caseload of planning applications, including dealing with related appeals and enforcement cases
  • Engage with applicants and other interested parties on a day-to-day basis
  • Deliver excellent customer service and high-quality development
  • Work individually and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English
  • Ability to build customer relationships and resolve routine issues by negotiation
  • Experience in assessing routine situations and carrying out inspections if required
  • Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
