Job Title: Assistant Theatre Practitioner

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Theatre Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality care to patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the healthcare team in providing a child-centred environment for children and families. This will involve contributing to the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and management of patient care within the Recovery unit and same day admission and day case wards.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist the healthcare team in providing a friendly and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and management of patient care within the Recovery unit and same day admission and day case wards.
  • Provide a reassuring welcome to children and their families on arrival.
  • Run effective telephone clinics, contacting carers for day case assessments, providing fasting information, etc.
  • Assist the registered practitioners and multi-disciplinary team in ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered to patients during their perioperative stay through to discharge from radiology recovery.
Requirements:
  • GCSE Level 2 (Grade A* - C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable ability to study at Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level and commit to completing the Foundation Degree programme.
  • Trust Care Certificate or equivalent.
  • Completed a recognised Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level /Foundation Degree Healthcare programme in health care or equivalent.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrable previous experience of providing direct patient care to children and young people, and their families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health service.
  • Providing a safe environment for children.
  • Understanding of the scope of the role in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service delivery.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity.
  • Evidence of recent work-based learning or self-directed learning.
  • Demonstrable previous experience and understanding of recovering a patient post sedation or GA.
  • Knowledge and understanding of common sedation contraindications.
  • Previous experience in participating in audits, clinical trial programmes, and training.
  • Experience of co-ordinating and managing patient care.
