Technical Artist Job Description

Rare, an Xbox Game Studio, is seeking a skilled Technical Artist to join its growing technical art team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality game assets and implementing efficient art pipelines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game development, programming languages such as Python, C#, or C++, and experience with 3D creation packages like Maya, Max, or ZBrush. A professional portfolio or technical blog is also a requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Art Teams to deliver game assets that meet artistic vision.
  • Design and implement tools to improve art pipelines and increase efficiency.
  • Support Art, Engineering, and Design Teams in resolving technical difficulties and implementing briefs.
  • Proactively identify new technologies and techniques to improve game development.
  • Document toolsets and provide concise documentation for the team.
  • Ensure game assets and content meet memory budget and performance guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Professional portfolio or technical blog.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent development experience.
  • Game development experience.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C#, or C++.
  • Deep knowledge of 3D creation packages like Maya, Max, or ZBrush.
  • Up-to-date experience and knowledge of current game development practices and terminology.
