About the Role

In the capacity of Lead AWS Platform Architect, you will be instrumental in steering our clients towards cloud and DevOps excellence. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure platforms, while also driving strategic initiatives that align with client goals.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to technically guide a team of cloud consultants, fostering innovation and excellence in cloud adoption strategies, and contributing to the establishment of Appvia's internal solutions team during a pivotal phase of our journey.

Interview Process - 3 Stages

  • Technical Interview with the Hiring Manager
  • Final Leadership Interview

Requirements

About You

You should have a passion for emerging technologies and automation, along with experience in leading an Engineering Team in Agile and DevOps best practices. You will be expected to discuss your:

  • In-depth knowledge of continuous integration and deployment methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals of varying technical expertise
  • Capability to lead and mentor on industry best practices
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire a team towards a shared objective
  • Experience in Bid work and Pre-Sales Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with potential and existing clients to define and implement strategies for cloud and DevOps integration.
  • Educate clients and industry stakeholders on the advantages and best practices of cloud-native technologies.
  • Lead large-scale, complex public cloud initiatives, providing strategic guidance and selecting suitable technologies.
  • Oversee teams of platform engineers and consultants, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Engage with enterprise clients to comprehend their unique challenges and deliver customized solutions.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and emerging technologies, contributing to industry knowledge sharing through articles and videos.

Skills

  • Platform Engineering: Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure platforms.
  • Automation: Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices, automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby).
  • Container Orchestration: Extensive knowledge and practical experience with Kubernetes and its managed counterparts (EKS, AKS, GKE).
  • Public Cloud Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP services, architecture, and best practices.
  • DevOps Mastery: Strong knowledge of CI/CD, containerization, and serverless technologies.

Experience

  • Leadership on Large Projects: Proven track record of leading and delivering large, complex public cloud projects.
  • Team Management and Mentorship: Significant experience in leading and managing teams, fostering a collaborative culture, and mentoring team members.
  • Enterprise Customer-Facing Experience: Extensive experience engaging with enterprise clients, managing relationships, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Continuous Learning and Industry Involvement: Demonstrated commitment to staying current with the latest trends and contributing to industry knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Certification in relevant cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) at an expert/professional level is highly desirable, e.g.:
    • AWS Solutions Architect Professional
  • Certification in Kubernetes administration is desirable:
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
    • Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKSS)
