Job Summary

Trinity Fire & Security Systems is seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Projects Engineer to join our team. As a Commissioning Projects Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and commissioning customers' fire alarm systems and associated equipment in line with current regulations. You will work closely with the Works department and Project Managers to ensure best practices and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission fire detection and alarm systems to meet specified requirements.
  • Liaise with Project engineers/ managers to ensure project delivery.
  • Carry out all necessary works at customer premises in accordance with quality standards.
  • Effectively communicate with customers regarding system and site status.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to allocated Engineers.
  • Liaise with administrators to ensure commitments are met.
  • Review and implement programming based on cause & effects matrix.
  • Manage and secure own equipment stock efficiently.
  • Operate in accordance with Company Handbook and relevant quality standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Pass on potential leads for further business to the relevant Sales Manager.
  • Discuss suggestions for system improvement with your line Manager.
  • Attend training sessions and communicate personal training and development needs.
Accountability
  • Ensure customers receive fully functioning fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Complete all own documentation within agreed time limits.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with your work.
Financial Authority
  • Arrange orders and collect goods up to a value of £500 when necessary.
  • Maximise overhead recovery and reduce costs.
  • Organise and provide feedback to increase cost efficiencies.
Key Competencies
  • Able to commission fire detection and alarm systems in line with manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Ensure as-installed drawings tally with the finished project.
  • Able to fully test every aspect of the installed system in line with specifications.
  • Able to identify and test all types of cable associated with fire detection systems.
  • Able to develop and diagnose Cause and Effect software for relevant control equipment.
  • Able to operate all required test equipment.
  • Demonstrates a logical approach to system fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • High level of ability in using bespoke manufacturers' software and Windows-based applications.
Technical Knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of control and field equipment.
  • Understanding of basic building service systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fire alarm problems and solutions.
  • Completed numerous units of FIA.
  • Manufacturer trained for equipment expected to operate.
  • Qualified electrician (City & Guilds 236 Pt2, Pt3) or equivalent.
Standards
  • Conversant with relevant clauses within BS 5839 P1 2017 & Building Regulations.
  • Operate business processes within ISO 9001 and LPS1014 frameworks.
Documentation
  • Able to read plans and technical sketches, and record changes accurately.
  • Identifies and reports the need for new works to the line Manager.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork in line with Company requirements.
Health and Safety
  • Complies with necessary H & S training as required.
  • Understands and complies with the Company's health and safety procedures.
  • Reports safety issues responsibly and participates in improving practices.
