Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at The Recruitment Co. as a Maintenance Technician. As a key member of our facilities support team, you will be responsible for providing a delivery of facilities support services across our clients' site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fault Finding and Repair: Identify and rectify faults in mechanical and electromechanical equipment and control systems.
  • Maintenance and Inspection: Undertake regular maintenance and inspections of plant and equipment to ensure they are functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that all machinery and equipment meets safety regulations and that you are aware of and comply with all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Breakdown Response: Respond promptly to breakdowns, failures, or malfunctions, and take necessary steps to rectify the issue.
  • Site Walk Rounds: Conduct regular weekly walk rounds of the site to identify any facility asset deterioration and report, repair as needed.
  • User Support: Respond to user requests for repair, maintenance, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Spare Management: Identify and manage spares in line with materials required.
  • Equipment Setup: Set up equipment in an efficient manner, based on a sound technical understanding of the equipment and its functionality.
  • Supplier Management: Liaise with and manage suppliers and contractors to ensure the best possible service is delivered to the company.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Diagnose mechanical issues with equipment/facility and facilitate its repair.
  • Facilities Upgrade: Support the upgrade of mechanical equipment within the test facilities.
  • Confined Spaces and Height Work: Happy to work in confined spaces and at height.
  • Equipment Operation: Frequent usage of a nifty lift, FLT, and scaffold towers.

Requirements:

  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of complex mechanical, facility, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Qualifications: City & Guilds or BTEC National qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering (or equivalent).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Task Management: Ability to work in a varied role, working effectively on multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Communication Skills: Self-motivated, conscientious with the ability to communicate effectively and work either independently or as part of a team.
  • Learning Ability: Able to learn quickly about new subjects and apply that learning to current tasks.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Acutely aware of all H&S aspects and a strong understanding of isolation and lockout procedures.
  • Technical Skillset: Strong Mechanical and Electrical skillset, ideally with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering.
  • Facilities Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive test facilities such as MTS hydraulic systems and environmental test.
  • Attitude and Flexibility: Flexible and responsive attitude to go above and beyond when required.
  • Pressure Management: Ability to remain focused in high-pressure situations.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Good Health & Safety knowledge and attitude - understanding of and experience of carrying out risk assessments.
  • Preventative Maintenance: To work in support of a preventative maintenance strategy. Undertaking work of a predictive preventive and repair nature.
  • KPIs: Meet and exceed set KPIs for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Contractor Supervision: Ensure contractors are appropriately supervised and comply with contractual commitments and site operating processes.
  • Maintenance Records: Document and communicate as necessary comprehensive maintenance records.
  • Driving License: Full UK driving licence.
