We are seeking an exceptional Consultant in Psychiatry of Learning Disability to join our team at the Whiteleaf Centre in Buckinghamshire. As a key member of our Community Mental Health Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients with severe and enduring mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the CMHT, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the development of effective treatment plans.
- Assess new routine referrals from other agencies, provide consultations to non-medical clinicians, and offer ongoing management for patients requiring longer-term care.
- Provide direct clinical supervision to trainees and specialty doctors, ensuring their development and growth in their roles.
- Contribute to the collection of data as required by the Trust and other relevant agencies, including the timely recording of clinical activity data and participation in clinical audit.
- Attend regular directorate managerial meetings, including the Medical Advisory Committee and monthly Directorate/Managerial liaison meetings.
- Participate in the local training programme for junior doctors and maintain a programme of training and CPD accreditation.
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification.
- Approved clinician Status and section 12 (MHA) Approval are essential.
- Full GMC registration with license to practice.
- Higher degree or equivalent in a relevant field of medical, psychological, or other studies, or postgraduate teaching qualification.
- Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in this specialty.
- Experience of close collaborative work with social care and other agencies.
- Application of evidence-based practice and interest in clinical and policy developments for this care group.
- CCT in Psychiatry, or inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry, or CESR.
- Higher specialist training in general adult or child and adolescent psychiatry in an approved training post for a minimum of three years, equivalent training in another country, or previous consultant experience relevant to this post.
