Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Accountant to join our team at Health Jobs UK. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of financial accounts and treasury functions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting and experience in managing a team. They will be able to lead by example, providing technical accounting advice to staff and ensuring that statutory guidelines, accounting standards, and timescales are fully met.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting: Responsible for key information in the production and submission of the Trust's accounts, ensuring that statutory guidelines, accounting standards, and timescales are fully met.
  2. Financial Analysis: Reconciliation of all balance sheet codes to ensure the Trust's financial position is accurately reflected and to control and maintain the chart of accounts in respect of the balance sheet.
  3. Technical Accounting Advice: Provide technical accounting advice to members of Trust staff in relation to issues affecting the Trust, and to keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and the impact they may have.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Post-qualification experience in a senior finance/leadership role.
  • Management of staff within the finance function.
  • Change management experience.
  • Able to lead a diverse team.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria

The following criteria would be advantageous:

  • NHS finance experience.
  • Staff management within financial services.
  • Able to develop and utilize effective professional networks.
  • Audit experience.
Skills and Qualities

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to influence positively in difficult situations and with difficult people.
  • Leadership and staff management skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Able to anticipate problems, appraise risks, consider overall implications, and make effective and difficult decisions.
  • Good Excel and Word financial package skills.
