We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Radiation Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radiation in our hospitals and clinics.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a senior member of our Radiation Safety team, providing expert advice and guidance on radiation safety protocols and procedures.
- Develop and implement radiation safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize radiation use and minimize risks to patients and staff.
- Provide training and education to staff on radiation safety best practices and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry partners.
- Initial degree in a numerate subject and MSc in a relevant field.
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist and evidence of post-qualification specialist training.
- Enrolled on a recognized CPD scheme.
- Experience and skills to be recognized as a Medical Physics Expert or ability to gain recognition as an MPE within 2 years.
- Expert theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of patient and staff risks arising from clinical failure and staff error.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information at postgraduate level.
- Advanced negotiation skills with staff groups across the Trust.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
