We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Radiation Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radiation in our hospitals and clinics.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a Medical Physics Expert/Radiation Protection Adviser in the relevant modality or support another individual to do this during a limited training period
- Lead on projects and areas of work as required and act as main point of contact for the Hinckley CDC facility
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of Trust policies/protocols and develop local procedures relating to Imaging
- Liaise with a wide range of staff in Medical Physics, Imaging and throughout the Trust
- Take part in complex negotiations, involving other staff groups, Trust departments and manufacturers
- Advise on specification, room design and procurement of specialist equipment, design and implement testing methods and protocols for such equipment
- Provide specialist, scientific advice to clinicians and others
- Carry out optimization projects
- Initial degree in a numerate subject MSc. in relevant subject HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist Evidence of post qualification specialist training (CPD) Enrolled on a recognised CPD scheme
- Experience and skills to be recognised as a Medical Physics Expert or ability to gain recognition as an MPE within 2 years. Sufficient post-registration experience. Expert theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of patient and staff risks arising from clinical failure and staff error
- Excellent oral and written communication Able to communicate highly complex information at postgraduate level to clinical and Medical Physics staff at all levels and to other professional groups Advanced negotiation skills with staff groups across the Trust Able to present scientific papers at national and international conferences Able to train groups of other professional staff Able to deliver teaching and training on highly complex subjects Able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations
