Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Manager to join our team at UK Power Networks (Operations) Ltd. As a key member of our Information Systems Group, you will be responsible for defining and delivering our UKPN Communication Network Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Direct leadership and development of a team of network professionals, managing the planning and allocation of resources and tasks to ensure team performance and project delivery.
  • Network Strategy: Develop and implement the UKPN Communications Network Strategy, ensuring it delivers on current requirements, is cost-effective, and provides good value for money.
  • Network Procedures: Develop and implement network procedures to support the UKPN Communications Network Strategy.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new technology and provide expertise within the communications network space.
  • Culture and Collaboration: Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture within the workplace.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget allocated to network infrastructure, ensuring cost effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Partner Engagement: Be the primary contact for communications networks within the UKPN, communicating infrastructure plans and strategies to partners at all levels.
  • Project Management: Lead infrastructure projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and requirements.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, maintaining security protocols and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard information assets.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in IT or Electrical field or equivalent industry qualifications/experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of communications networking, including telecommunications, DWDM, Optical Transport Networks, SDH, IP network Design, LAN and WAN technologies, and familiarity with on-prem and cloud technologies.
  • Leadership and Management: Experience managing technical teams and projects, with the ability to mentor, inspire, and lead a team towards achieving strategic goals.
  • Communication: Clearly convey complex IT/OT strategies and systems to a non-technical audience.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the capability to anticipate potential issues and implement solutions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the regulatory environment impacting OT infrastructure, with an emphasis on compliance and cyber security.
