Job Summary

The Edit Technician will be responsible for delivering high-quality client-focused support and services to productions using ITV Technology's facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service to clients, prioritizing workload across multiple projects in line with departmental and health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies are maintained, considering best practices and industry standards.
  • Operate and maintain broadcast equipment, providing technical advice to clients on how to achieve production requirements.
  • Manipulate digital media to deliver high-quality, creative, and technical solutions to client or production requests.
  • Assist editors in support of their duties, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
  • Collaborate with senior management and production support teams to establish effective operational protocols.
  • Complete technical previews to meet individual broadcaster standards.
  • Support the department's lines and transmission services, ensuring seamless delivery.
  • Manage media and project files, archiving and restoring to and from backup systems.
  • Transcode, upload, and download file-based media, ensuring efficient distribution.
  • Maintain post-production housekeeping, including server media management, project backups, and archiving.
  • Provide advanced technical support for personnel in post-production areas, including troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with Technical Support to ensure suites and operational areas are fit for purpose.
  • Advise clients on production processes, coordinating assets and projects between production, related departments, and external suppliers.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of post-production workflows, Avid Media Composer, broadcast standards, and file formats.
  • Highly proficient with broadcast IT and equipment, NLEs, DAWs, GFX software, transcoders, and standards converters.
  • Vision and hearing capable of discerning video and audio quality to broadcast standards.

  • Ability to work towards timelines and budget parameters.
