Job Title: Head of Delivery

About the Role:

The Head of Delivery will lead the cross-portfolio delivery team for the Product Delivery and Operations area of Product and Platforms, which is part of the Digital sub-directorate of the Transformation directorate of NHS England.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for cross-portfolio delivery of initiatives involving multiple product portfolios.
  • Build and maintain a shared roadmap for delivery of cross-cutting initiatives.
  • Ensure key deliverables on cross-cutting initiatives are met in line with ministerial expectations.
  • Work across delivery teams to ensure alignment between Product and Platforms delivery expectations.
  • Coordinate briefings, information requests, and presentation materials required.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues for cross-portfolio delivery.
  • Maximize available funding across different portfolio workstreams for optimal delivery.
  • Provide progress reporting and updates against objectives and OKRs.
  • Represent the Deputy Director of Product Delivery and Operations at delivery meetings in NHSE.

Key Relationships:

  • Senior leaders across Product and Platforms, including Executive Director, Core SLT, and Product/Delivery leaders.
  • Director Mobile First.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience of effective engagement with and leadership of major projects/initiatives.
  • Extensive experience and advanced practical understanding of product delivery methodologies, including agile methods and other structured approaches.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders at all levels.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to agreed goals, in a self-directed and professional manner.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Highly credible communicator, with the ability to challenge and influence at senior management/director level, often communicating highly contentious information within environments of major change.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to master's level or equivalent qualification/delivery experience.
