Protection Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Protection Design Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy Limited. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing protection designs, solutions, and technical feedback to contracts in all areas within the business.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop protection schemes for 13.9kV to 400kV associated with Long Term Schemes (LTS).
- Create protection and control designs for Low Voltage Alternating Current (LVAC), Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC), and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment associated with LTS.
- Conduct C.T./V.T. and cable sizing calculations.
- Configure relays and create associated documentation.
- Produce Engineering and Test Specifications for new and existing solutions.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews for technical recommendations.
- Develop protection Compliance Matrices, Design Intent Documents, Equipment Technical Specifications, and Functional Design Specifications.
- Contribute to the production of design risk assessments for all design solutions, ensuring all design risks and HAZIDs are identified and controlled, and full compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.
- Ensure quality and consistency by carrying out functional testing during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) phase with the client.
- Assist in mentoring new members of the engineering department.
- Maintain consistency of design on each contract by alignment to processes and procedures.
- Attend Technical meetings with the client as required.
- Collaborate with all engineering departments and project managers within Siemens Energy Limited.
- Contribute to the T2W and Top+ business improvement programme within the Engineering Department.
- Dedicate to the Siemens Think Customer initiative, including excellent call handling and voice mail skills.
- Continuously review engineering processes and procedures to improve and recommend changes.
