Position Overview
The role of the General Practitioner (GP) requires the individual to embody the values and principles of the Practice, showcasing professionalism in all interactions with patients and colleagues. The GP will report directly to the Practice Manager for administrative matters and to the Partners for clinical responsibilities. The primary function of the GP is to deliver comprehensive medical services, managing a diverse patient caseload and addressing a variety of health concerns within a primary care framework, while upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Deliver a full spectrum of medical services as outlined in the core GMS contract, along with any additional enhanced services as necessary.
- As per the agreed Practice schedule, the GP will be expected to perform various tasks including in-person consultations, telephonic consultations, home visits, processing repeat prescriptions, and managing administrative queries efficiently.
- Overall, the GP will be responsible for fulfilling all standard duties associated with a General Practitioner in a primary care setting.

Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic consultation records using the designated clinical system.
- Make independent, professional decisions regarding patient care, whether they are self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
- Evaluate the healthcare needs of patients with complex or undiagnosed conditions, screening for risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Collaborate with patients to develop tailored care plans in accordance with current Practice protocols.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients.
- Manage patient admissions and discharges, referring to other healthcare providers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Practice policies and guidelines, including confidentiality and data protection.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute to clinical audits and standard-setting initiatives.

In the course of providing care, the GP will handle sensitive patient information, which must be treated with the utmost confidentiality in accordance with Practice policies.
