Optamor is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for delivering electrical systems projects within budget and meeting all legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical Interface Requirements: Collaborate with system engineers to define electrical interface requirements for all electrical components.
- Project Delivery: Deliver commodities within budget through regular supplier liaison and tracking DVP status, meeting all legislative requirements in line with vehicle project delivery plan.
- Design and Development: Own and manage design and development tasks relating to low / high voltage wiring, fusing systems and electrical power distribution, including the creation of specifications, drawings, reports and sign-off documentation.
- Supplier Management: Manage full service supplier, build-to-print supplier and/or externally resourced circuit & 2D design across various prototype and development builds.
- Component Data Management: Create, check, update and approve component data sheets and schematics in conjunction with other function groups, our technical partners and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Guidance and Support: Provide guidance to cross functional teams and ensure that wiring and electrical hardware are correctly located in line vehicle architecture and packaged in accordance with installation, environmental and EMC requirements.
- System Reviews: Actively participate and represent EDS in system reviews, sub-system reviews, design Reviews, DFMEA reviews and verification & validation reviews.
- Issue Management: Manage issues to closure from fault identification through to resolution using 8D process.
- Harness Management: Release ownership of Harnesses and managing changes internally, engineering service providers and suppliers.
- Quality and Compliance: Responsible for DFMEA, Routing Quality Assessment (RQA), DVP&R (Electrical & Mechanical), PV sign-off, Engineering Sign-off.
- Tier 1 Supplier Management: Tier 1 supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement, Logistics and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prototype and Development Builds: Support various prototype and development builds including labcar / test rig build where required at manufacturing facility.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments such as Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Programs, Logistics, Service and workshops.
- Training and Development: Provide support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments as required.
- Automotive Industry Knowledge: Understanding Automotive New Product Development Process, Milestones and deliverables for each phases.
- Electrical Systems Experience: Demonstrable experience of automotive electrical wiring and power distribution system design, development and manufacturing.
- Vehicle Electrical Systems: Good experience and knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs and other electrically wired components, EMC and other regulatory requirements.
- Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Experience: Knowledge of hybrid and full-electric electrical vehicle architectures and wiring systems would be advantageous.
- Visualisation Tools: Experience of visualisation using CATIA V5 or V6 or lightweight file viewers would be useful.
- 2D Drawing and Circuit Design: Excellent understanding of 2D drawings, electrical circuits is required for the job. However it is desirable to have working knowledge in circuit design or 2D drawing creation using Capital-Harness or Arcadia.
- Harness Change Requests: Experience in creating Harness Change Requests and managing the implementation of the changes through design release and suppliers.
- Harness Re-works and Interrogation: Understanding of harnesses re-works and interrogate vehicle circuits. Hands on experience of minor electrical reworks is highly desirable.
- APQP and Six Sigma: Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc).
- Harness Complexity and Component Databases: Experience in managing harness complexities, component databases (DTs).
- Harness Testing and Validation: Experience is harness testing & validation process and engineering sign-off.
- Engineering Development Tools: Ability to use various engineering development tools and collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Office 365.
- Education and Qualifications: Honor's Degree in Electrical, or Honor's degree in areas such as Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive is acceptable with relevant experience in the field or other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
