Job Title: Local Authority Designated Officer

Wiltshire Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to fill the role of Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). This position plays a vital role in safeguarding children in Wiltshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer professional consultation and advice to Senior Managers and key stakeholders on safeguarding policies and decision making.
  • Chair and coordinate complex multi-agency meetings to ensure that all allegations made against individuals working with children are reviewed and managed thoroughly and fairly.
  • Investigate and oversee the management of allegations, conduct thorough risk assessments in child protection cases, and produce performance reports.
  • Lead on the development of risk management strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with a SWE registration.
  • Substantial experience in child protection and safeguarding legislation.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively across agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
