Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our expanding team in the Interventional Radiology Theatres. This role is essential in providing exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing various interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in this specialized area, your primary duties will include:

  1. Collaborating with radiologists as a scrub nurse during invasive procedures such as angioplasty, embolization, stenting, and biopsies.
  2. Delivering comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  3. Exhibiting strong communication and leadership abilities to foster a supportive environment.
  4. Acting as a role model by providing consistent, high-quality clinical care.
  5. Maintaining a safe and sterile environment for all procedures.
  6. Creating individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
  7. Documenting all nursing activities accurately and in accordance with established protocols.
  8. Adhering to infection prevention policies to ensure patient safety.

Job Specific Duties

In this role, you will be expected to:

  1. Work flexible hours, including late shifts and on-call duties, to meet the needs of patient care.
  2. Participate in specialized nursing programs, such as Diabetic and Infection Control link nurse initiatives.
  3. Understand and comply with local safety regulations and protocols related to radiation exposure.
  4. Administer IV sedation to patients undergoing specific procedures, following established guidelines.
  5. Assist in the coordination of daily operations within the Interventional Radiology Theatres, including managing procedure lists and staff allocation.
  6. Maintain inventory and pharmacy stock within the department.
  7. Support other areas of the department as needed, including CT, MRI, and Ultrasound.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with a current NMC pin number.
  • Proficient in medicines management.
  • Experience in delivering nursing care to diverse patient groups.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in an NHS acute hospital setting.
  • Involvement in clinical audits or research projects.

Communication Skills

Essential:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT proficiency.

Desirable:

  • Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in email, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in delivering educational sessions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Assessment Skills

Essential:

  • Ability to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care effectively.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of current issues affecting nursing and the NHS.
