GBA5 EntServ UK Limited is dedicated to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Advanced Mission Planning Aid (AMPA) and its related products. AMPA is a sophisticated system utilized extensively by the RAF and various international Air Forces, built on a unified software foundation with customizations for different aircraft models.

The AMPA system is fully integrated, leveraging customer IT frameworks to facilitate immediate information sharing across various locations. It operates on a Linux platform and is deployed on commercially available HP hardware. The current development framework utilizes the Rational ClearCase configuration management tool.

The AMPA initiative encompasses multiple projects that share a common development and delivery framework to fulfill distinct customer needs. For international clients, this includes ensuring compliance with industry standards in the aviation sector. Team members may work on specific projects or provide support across various initiatives.

AMPA is recognized for its effectiveness and reliability, significantly attributed to the comprehensive support GBA5 provides to end users, including requirements gathering, operational support, and training.

Candidates must hold SC clearance and be UK nationals without any restrictions or dual citizenship.

This position is entirely office-based, with no remote work options available.

Role Responsibilities

Seeking an experienced Service Installation Specialist to support the AMPA Programme and fulfill contractual obligations. The role involves overseeing installation tasks for in-flight projects, both domestically and internationally. The Specialist will facilitate the transition of systems into operational status and provide ongoing maintenance support. Additionally, they will assist internal teams in establishing representative environments for verification and analysis.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Systems Team Lead.

Key Duties

Plan and execute system installations and configurations for clients, including both permanent and deployed setups. Oversee the installation and configuration of internal testing and development environments. Manage the Service Support Desk workload according to established procedures to meet customer service level agreements (SLAs). Coordinate responses to support requests to ensure timely resolutions. Monitor and report on Service Support Desk performance as outlined in contractual agreements and as needed. Collaborate with third-party suppliers and support organizations regarding service support activities. Provide remote diagnostics and repairs over secure networks. Handle system administration for remote diagnostic tools. Ensure secure tracking of classified hardware and media. Develop clear work instructions, procedures, and installation plans accessible to individuals with varying technical expertise. Provide coverage for the team lead during absences or periods of increased workload. Represent Service Delivery needs at account review meetings. Assist in estimating, scheduling, and reporting on Service Delivery activities. Attend third-party supplier meetings as necessary. Travel is a requirement for this role, estimated at approximately 30-40%, both within the UK and internationally.

Essential Qualifications

Several years of experience in customer-facing roles. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient understanding of physical hardware configurations and the ability to assemble and modify commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment to precise specifications. Basic knowledge of networking topologies and infrastructure to effectively plan installations based on customer-provided networking.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Advanced Mission Planning Aid (AMPA). Previous experience in support desk or helpdesk roles. ITIL Foundation certification. Hardware expertise with a solid understanding of HP and non-HP COTS products, including: Workstations, Laptops, Servers, Printers. Network Attached Storage devices. Uninterruptible Power Supply devices. Basic knowledge of Red Hat Linux and command line operations. Understanding of the IBM Rational suite (ClearCase / ClearQuest).
