Main Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice: Demonstrate a profound understanding of your expanded responsibilities and autonomy, recognizing your limits of competence and Scope of Practice.
  • Leadership and Management: Serve as a role model for effective leadership behaviors, displaying resilience and implementing governance strategies that align with the Trust's vision for transformation.

  • Quality Improvement: Engage in audits and research initiatives aimed at enhancing care quality, utilizing both formal and informal methodologies to improve service delivery.
  • Financial Acumen: Exercise careful financial consideration when making requests or referrals for investigations, ordering supplies, or participating in service development and recruitment efforts.

Job Responsibilities

The role holder will be expected to engage across the four pillars of practice, with time allocation governed by Job Planning processes in collaboration with the Clinical Lead and roster coordinator to accurately document planned and actual time spent in each area.

Contracted Working Hours Allocation:

80% of contracted hours will focus on direct patient care.

The remaining 20% will be dedicated to supporting professional activities (SPA), including:

  • Management and Leadership of junior multidisciplinary staff.
  • Education and Training to maintain ongoing professional development (CPD), compliance training, and providing training to other staff within the Directorate.
  • Audit and Research of personal practice and that of junior staff, including departmental pathway audits and evidence-based medicine research.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Paramedic or Physiotherapist.
  • Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice (or completion of Health Education England (HEE) ACP ePortfolio in specific circumstances).
  • Independent Prescriber (V300).
  • Advanced Life Support provider (ALS) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a current portfolio of practice evidence.

Desirable:

  • Progress towards accreditation/credentialing with The Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM).
  • Leadership and teaching/assessment qualifications.
