Lead Security Operations Manager

This position offers a chance to join a dynamic security team dedicated to safeguarding essential infrastructure and ensuring operational continuity.
The successful candidate will oversee a newly established security operations unit, serving as a liaison between the existing IT Security Operations Center (SOC) and the operational teams within the organization.
This role demands specialized knowledge to assess how security vulnerabilities could affect critical services.
As this is a new initiative, there will be opportunities to expand the team with additional operations analysts in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a small team tasked with monitoring vital systems for signs of security breaches.
- Manage the triage of security incidents, alerts, and inquiries generated through the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, acting as a bridge between the IT SOC and the teams responsible for operational technology systems.
- Gather and disseminate threat intelligence, leveraging domain expertise to transform this information into actionable insights for the broader security community.
- Provide recommendations to prioritize security investments aimed at enhancing monitoring capabilities.
- Develop processes, playbooks, and standards for detecting and responding to security incidents across the operational technology landscape.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in security operations roles, particularly in identifying indicators of compromise from system logs and various event sources.
- Background in an operational technology setting, ideally within a large, regulated utility environment.
- Knowledge of how cybersecurity threats can impact electricity transmission systems.
- Experience in leading and developing a small team, including responsibilities for line management and recruitment.
- Experience in a greenfield role, where you have established new tools, processes, and training to enhance the capabilities of a new team.
