Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Mentor in Mental Health and/or Autism to join our team at the University of South Wales. As a Specialist Mentor, you will provide one-to-one support to vulnerable students, enabling them to access their course, succeed in their studies, and engage fully with student life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to students with mental health and/or autism needs, including coping strategies, time management, and independent living skills.
  • Work closely with students to identify and address barriers to their academic success.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, academic staff, and other support services.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of mental health and wellbeing initiatives across the university.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive support service for students.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with students with mental health and/or autism needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health and wellbeing strategies and initiatives.
