Job Summary

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Non-Resident Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients and contributing to the development of our services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical care to patients in gynaecology and ante-natal out-patient clinics, colposcopy clinics, special interest clinics, theatre, and labour ward.
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients and running of the department, including promoting high professional standards of clinical care.
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice and entry on Specialist Register or in the receipt of CCT within six months of interview.
  • Accredited colposcopist and competent in laparoscopic hysterectomies.
  • Experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT.
  • Active involvement in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Sound understanding of risk management and experience in contributing to the requirements of CNST and other external regulators.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Oncology ATSMedical.
  • Colposcopy ATSM.
  • BSCCP accredited Colposcopist.
  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery for excision of benign disease.
  • Advanced Benign abdominal surgery ATSM.
  • Advanced Laparoscopic surgery skills.

Working Arrangements

The post holder will be expected to work a non-resident night per week on call and a 1:4 non-resident weekend on call. It is expected that the post holder will not be covering services on other sites or in private practice when on call.
