Key Tasks
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations for clients and the office
  • Identify and allocate all office and client receipts
  • Process accounts payable, including supplier invoices and expenses on Sage, and perform monthly supplier reconciliations
  • Process staff expenses
  • Review, post, and reconcile counsel fees and other anticipated disbursements
  • Billing of disbursements and fees
  • Weekly and monthly medical reconciliation and follow-up
  • Monthly nominal reporting for the Legal Director
  • Deal with general case-related queries and issues
  • Assist with the SRA audit carried out by external auditors
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required, including monitoring the inbox, daily banking, supporting file handlers, and annual audit
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working in a finance department
  • Experience in a similar role within a legal practice is ideal
  • Knowledge of SARs and VAT compliance is ideal
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritize workloads
  • Ability to multitask and handle interruptions
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and able to use initiative
  • Ability to work in a busy environment
  • Experience of Sage Software is an advantage
  • Confidential with sensitive information
  • Ability to build relationships and work with people of all levels of seniority
  • Good Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft packages
