We are seeking a highly skilled General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Isle of Wight, a category B male training prison. Located on a small island, the prison is approximately 8 minutes from St Marys Hospital and 26 minutes away from Cowes Ferry Terminal.
About the RoleYou will work closely with the on-site Lead GP, GPs, and ANPs to deliver care to approximately 1100 patients. This role would suit a GP looking to provide end-to-end care, with a large proportion of patients having long-term conditions and polypharmacy needs, including cardiac, diabetes, and asthma care. There is specific administrative time built into the role, with around 60% of time being patient-facing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Prescribe for patients, regularly review medications, and monitor repeat prescriptions.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
- Include diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways.

Requirements- MBChB or MBBS qualification.
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these.
