At Turning Point, we provide assistance to individuals with Learning Disabilities throughout England.

As a Care Support Specialist, you will significantly impact the lives of residents by enhancing their daily living capabilities. With a genuine passion for helping others, you will have the opportunity and support to enrich your own life and career while acquiring the experience and training necessary for advancement within our organization.

Work Environment

Our focus is on supporting adults with learning disabilities and physical challenges.

This supported living facility is located in a convenient area, providing easy access to transportation routes. The service accommodates four adult gentlemen facing learning disabilities, health concerns, and mobility challenges. The individuals we assist often lead active social lives and partake in various activities, including outings, shopping, volunteering, and social gatherings. We seek an enthusiastic and self-driven individual to aid in all facets of daily living and to join a friendly, established team.

You will be expected to adopt a person-centered approach in all aspects of the clients' lives, which includes managing their household, providing some personal care, facilitating access to community resources, and maintaining connections with significant individuals in their lives. Our services are tailored to promote independence. You may also be required to accompany clients to medical appointments. A full UK driving license is preferred.

We utilize a digital social care record system to streamline daily documentation, allowing you to focus more on the individuals we support.

Training and Development Opportunities

We offer comprehensive training for those looking to enhance their skills and competencies, not only in the care sector but in various other fields as well.

  • Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Level 3 Operational Team Leader

Please note that training will commence after the completion of your six-month probation period. Once you begin your training with us, you will be assigned a coach to guide you through your program.

Shift Patterns

This is a 24-hour service, thus flexibility is crucial. You will be scheduled for various shifts ranging from early morning to late evening, including sleep-ins or waking nights, and some weekends.

Please be aware that shift times may vary.

Role Responsibilities

Key Duties

This is a hands-on position where no two days are alike. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
  • Assisting with a wide range of daily activities, including household tasks and outings
  • Organizing activities both within the home and in the local community
  • Supporting residents in developing life skills and personal interests
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents
  • Assisting with personal care requirements
  • Performing manual handling tasks
  • Supporting individuals with medication management
  • Maintaining accurate records as required and contributing to service monitoring efforts.

While familiarity with learning disabilities and complex needs is advantageous, it is not mandatory. What is essential is that you are:

  • Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
  • Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental
  • A collaborative team player with high energy
  • Capable of demonstrating effective communication skills
  • Able to fulfill the physical demands of the role, including manual handling as necessary
  • Experienced in assisting individuals in managing anxiety
