Role Overview
We are currently seeking Peer Support Volunteers to assist our community service in Bristol. Ideally, you will be able to dedicate 1-3 hours each week to this rewarding role.
The primary focus of this position is to offer support to individuals who are currently on our waiting list. You will engage in weekly phone conversations lasting between 45 minutes to 1 hour with a service user for a duration of 12 weeks, at mutually convenient times. You will receive guidance from our Peer and Volunteer Coordinator, Service Manager, and Team Leader throughout your volunteering journey.

About Our Services
Our organization is committed to delivering exceptional services aimed at helping individuals achieve their personal goals. We strive to enhance the quality of life and promote independence for those living with mental health challenges. The Bristol Services team comprises a diverse group of professionals, including a Service Manager, Recovery Coaches, a Digital Officer, a Group Development Coordinator, a Community Development Worker, and a Peer and Volunteer Coordinator.
Your Responsibilities as a Peer Support Volunteer
- Provide one-on-one support to service users awaiting assistance.
- Demonstrate empathy towards the challenges faced by individuals.
- Maintain a session log after each interaction.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ability to uphold strict boundaries and confidentiality, with knowledge of safeguarding practices.
- Strong empathy and the capability to build rapport with service users.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Personal experience with mental health challenges.
