Role Responsibilities

As the Aerospace Operations Coordinator, you will lead a team comprising two Flight Planning Specialists and one Duty Operations Specialist. Your role will involve:

  • Ensuring all operational tasks are executed with precision and efficiency.
  • Mentoring junior personnel to deliver exceptional service to both RAF Coningsby and visiting aircrew.
  • Conducting on-the-job training for new and experienced staff, guiding them to achieve validation standards within designated timelines.
  • Participating in the Assurance Team, where you will oversee the validation of military and civilian personnel, ensuring compliance with operational standards.

Additional Duties

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Implementing emergency notification procedures for aircraft incidents and establishing a Crisis Management Centre to support emergency services.
  • Collaborating with the Duty Operations Controller to manage flight diversions.
  • Monitoring weather conditions to anticipate changes that may affect operations.
  • Publishing and updating the Station Recovery State and communicating changes to relevant parties.
  • Processing booking requests for civil and military aircraft visiting the station.
  • Ensuring accurate entry of Notice to Aviators (NOTAMS) into the Typhoon Advanced Mission Planning Aid (TyAMPA).
  • Securing approvals for armed aircraft diversions to and from the station.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess qualifications as an Air and Space Operations Specialist (ASOS) or have completed the ASOS training course within the last five years. If not, completion of the course at the earliest opportunity is required. Following training, you will engage in an on-the-job training program and undergo validation by a member of the Assurance Team, ensuring compliance with annual assurance checks.

This position involves a shift pattern requiring both day and night work, specifically 2 days on, 2 nights on, followed by 4 days off. It is a full-time role and is not suitable for remote work arrangements.
