Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surface Finish Technician to join our team at Serco. As a Surface Finish Technician, you will be responsible for delivering and supervising surface finish tasks, including surface preparation and paint application on MoD assets.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage work according to schedule set by Site Manager, ensuring quality control standards are met.
  • Supervise personnel and conduct QA checks on production tasks.
  • Assume responsibility for surface finish activities in the absence of the Site lead or their deputy.
  • Ensure surface finish tasks are completed in accordance with quality policy, procedures, and standards.
  • Apply manual, chemical, and media paint removal methods on aircraft, components, and MoD assets.
  • Apply a high standard of paint finish using modern paint application equipment.
  • Comply with quality, health, safety, environmental, and aviation safety requirements.
  • Notify section leaders of anomalies, failures, defects, corrosion, etc.
  • Ensure personnel are adequately trained before operating unfamiliar equipment or handling dangerous substances.
  • May be designated to carry out support roles, ordering and accepting deliveries of consumables and equipment.

Requirements

  • Appropriate experience as a RAF Painter and Finisher tradesman or time served civilian equivalent in the trade of Aircraft/Automotive Body shop Painter.
  • NVQ 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification.
  • Full driving licence (desirable).
