Overview

We are seeking a skilled Microwave Systems Engineer to become a vital member of our innovative team at Leonardo. In this role, you will be pivotal in the conception, execution, and evaluation of advanced GaAs/GaN MMIC architectures for state-of-the-art defense and aerospace initiatives. Your proficiency in microwave engineering will significantly contribute to enhancing our essential capabilities and driving technological progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop GaAs/GaN MMICs aligned with system requirements and specifications analysis
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and analyze design alternatives for optimal functionality
  • Execute comprehensive simulations and modeling to validate design performance and adherence
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate microwave designs into Electronically Scanned Antennas
  • Test and diagnose designs to pinpoint and rectify issues
  • Draft technical documentation to convey design methodologies and testing outcomes
  • Remain informed on advancements in microwave technology and integrate new techniques into designs
  • Engage with external collaborators to ensure timely delivery of components

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in GaAs/GaN MMIC design, particularly in X-Band frequencies
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, or CST Microwave Studio
  • Strong understanding of microwave components and devices
  • Familiarity with microwave testing equipment
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic field theory and transmission line principles
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and adhere to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
