Job Summary

CapeClarke Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crime & Regulatory Solicitor to join its team in Manchester. As a key member of our Motor Crime Defence team, you will be responsible for defending clients in motor crime inquests and regulatory matters.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of motor crime and regulatory law. You will work closely with our clients to provide expert advice and representation in court, and will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and analyzing prosecution evidence to identify key implications for clients
  • Drafting statements of insured witnesses and reviewing client evidence
  • Liaising with courts, coroners, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and representation
  • Working with experts to instruct and summarize evidence
  • Serving defence case statements, sentencing bundles, and mitigation bundles
  • Drafting written submissions and liaising with clients on prosecution cases
  • Reviewing transcripts of evidence and organizing conferences and meetings
  • Attending interviews, trials, and inquests, and drafting notes of evidence and outcome
  • Collating evidence and preparing bundles, and reviewing medical records and post-mortem reports
  • Attending site visits, taking photos, and drafting basic statements
  • Researching relevant guidelines and regulations
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
  • Preparing written reports and advice for clients

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of motor crime and regulatory law
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
