About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Legal Secretary to provide administrative support to our Solicitors and Conveyancers. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our law firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to Solicitors and Conveyancers, enabling them to operate at optimum efficiency.
  • Act independently in the conduct of client matters, drafting documents, and preparing correspondence.
  • Administer filing, including daily filing, opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of client files.
  • Prepare mail and enclosures for despatch, and arrange for copying to be done.
  • Maintain an up-to-date diary for the principal, including maintenance of a brought forward file system.
  • Complete relevant forms and statements in relation to client matters, and input data into the firm's computer system.
  • Assist in updating precedents as instructed, and attend to clients in person and on the telephone.
  • Ensure all messages, including faxes and e-mail, are delivered to the fee earner accurately and without delay.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and clients' documentation and information.
  • Handle all monies belonging to clients within Law Society rules and guidelines.
  • Liaise with members of staff in other teams or external contacts as necessary.
  • Prioritize workload in consultation with the fee earners concerned.
Requirements
  • Prior experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, ideally within a Conveyancing department.
  • Confident, presentable candidate with a strong work ethic and a commitment to deliver a high-quality legal service to our valued clients.
  • Strong efficiency and organizational skills, with good control of diary systems and solid computer literacy.
  • A pragmatic approach to the workload, and a strong team player.
